Local Error in Processing

The server encountered a local error while processing your message. This is usually temporary.

What does this error mean?

SMTP error 451 indicates that the receiving server encountered an internal error:

  • Database or storage system issues
  • Anti-virus or anti-spam scanning timeout
  • DNS resolution problems
  • Server resource exhaustion

    1. Automatic Retry

    Your mail server should automatically retry. Most 451 errors resolve within minutes to hours.

    2. Check Message Size

    Large attachments may cause scanning timeouts. Try reducing attachment size.

    3. Verify DNS Records

    Ensure your domain's DNS records (SPF, DKIM, PTR) are properly configured.
